Our Rates and Pricing Structures

What?! You Are Actually Posting Your Pricing?

Yep. If you’ve read through our core values, you’ll see that transparent business practices are very important to us. In our industry, there seems to be a standard opinion that displaying your rates and pricing online is not a good thing to do for two reasons: 1) you lose leverage in negotiating pricing for new clients and 2) your competitors know exactly how to price against you. That’s fine with us – what you see is what you get. No games and no veiling.

Landers Brannon earns revenue in four basic ways: through custom web design & development projects, flat-rate SnapSite packages, a-la-carte products and services, and ongoing maintenance for the sites we build. We specialize in designing high quality websites for professionals, businesses, and organizations and truly believe we provide a better value for the price than anyone around.

While we would love to work with everyone, we understand that we may not always be the right fit. Average is cheap. If cheap is your only metric for choosing a design company, we aren’t going to be a good fit unfortunately. We believe you get what you pay for and at Landers Brannon you are getting the crafted design and decision making that only years of experience can bring. We design and build stunningly beautiful, and highly functional websites. We take the time and effort to understand your company and tell its story through the most effective means possible. We stand by our clients and not just our work.

More About Our Pricing

 Custom Website Design and Development

The majority of work we do revolves around working with our clients to create custom websites. A typical client might spend $15-30k with us on their initial custom site design and development, $250-$800 per month for support, maintenance and ongoing consulting, and $2k-5k per year on various site enhancements they might want to make. Most custom sites take 2-4 months to build, and we typically have a waiting list for start dates 2-8 weeks out.

 Flat-Rate SnapSite Packages

Our SnapSite packages are all-in-one solutions designed to get a beautiful, professionally designed website up and running quickly and affordably. SnapSites are tailored for small businesses looking for an easy, all-in-one solution rather than a completely customized site requiring a larger financial commitment. Our SnapSites packages range in price from $2,500 to $7,500 and typically take anywhere from 5 to 20 business days to build.

We employ a standard detailed evaluation method for every theme and plugin we review to make sure they meet or exceed our standards and, more importantly, the standards our clients have come to expect in a Landers Brannon product. Our detailed evaluation checklist can be found in our client guide so contact us to request a full version of our SnapSites Client Guide.

 Ongoing Website Maintenance

After we build the initial site, most clients choose to stay with us for at least the lifespan of that site build (typically 3-5 years), and many end up working with us through numerous site builds. A number of our clients have been with us for over a decade.

We don’t require any ongoing retainers for site upgrades, but we do offer offer several proactive maintenance plans that offer increasingly reduced rates depending on the package. These packages are great for clients who know they are going to need help each month with updates, content and graphics and don’t have the time or knowledge to handle it themselves. A maintenance plan also ensures that clients stay on our radar and always get immediate attention to any issue that may arise without having to go through the process of scheduling again as a new client.

If a client chooses to not engage in a maintenance plan, they can simply get in touch with us and we give them a time and cost estimate for any work that may be needed. Some clients upgrade their site every few years while others are constantly working with us to expand their site’s functionality.

A-la-carte Products and Services

In addition to full project offerings, we also offer some extras and add-ons intended to complement the projects we work on. Some of these items include email newsletters, logo design, motion graphics and training. Some of these items are offered as a flat-rate product while others are charged using our hourly rates.

Hourly Rates (or retainer-based) vs. Flat Rate (fixed scope) Pricing

Below are the three pricing structures we offer. They are meant to give you a general idea on how we bill but we will always be upfront and clear as to which model we will be using for your project. The retainer based agreement allows us to take a more collaborative approach with you based on your needs, whereas fixed scope projects are much more defined from the very beginning of the engagement. We also accommodate a hybrid of these in some cases.

Flat Rate (fixed scope) Pricing

We charge a flat rate on all of our SnapSite packages and other projects where the scope has been fully defined. We’ll also consider fixed-scope pricing for any client that has extensive web design / development experience, has worked with us on several projects over several years and/or provides finalized content and approved project definition documents at inception. If you are a fan of the Waterfall methodology, this is the pricing structure for you.

Hourly Rate (or retainer-based) Pricing

Generally, we charge our hourly rate (or work on retainer) for any project or task that doesn’t have a defined scope or is a constant moving target. This usually includes ongoing maintenance and support, project discovery or definition, and creative work (mockups, design and/or layout). If you are a fan of Agile Development, this is the pricing structure for you. Our standard hourly blended rate is $170/hour and our agency / non-profit blended rate is $140/hour. However, we do offer reduced rates in special cases and for clients who participate in our ProMaintain ongoing maintenance program. These clients enjoy discounted hourly rates as low as $90/hour in some cases depending on their selected package.

Hybrid Pricing Structure

We most often use a hybrid pricing structure on larger projects where there is a defined discovery and project definition period. We’ll use hourly rate or retainer-based pricing during this period to make sure we foster as much collaboration, testing and brainstorming as the project needs. Once the discovery and project definition period has ended, we’ll be left with detailed functional and technical specs, wireframes, mockups and content outlines that will clearly define the remaining project. We then typically roll over to fixed scope pricing so the client knows exactly what the cost will be and there are no surprises.

Our newsletters are a great way to keep up-to-date with everything happening at LanBran as well as the latest digital trends, news and information relating to design, eMarketing, and online business. We live and breathe this stuff and would love to share our insights with you. We only send out about 4-5 times per year so don’t worry, we won’t spam you!

Each year we serve a small number of clients at a very high level. While we create an average of twenty sites or so per year, we’ve picked out a few notable projects to highlight for you below.
